Ben Scott is a seasoned financial markets professional with over 30 years of global experience. Most recently, he was a Founding Partner at Barrenjoey Capital Partners in Sydney, where he spent four years helping to establish the firm and build client relationships.
Previously, Ben spent 20 years overseas, including 15 years with Morgan Stanley in New York. There, he served on the Global Prime Brokerage Executive Committee—part of the firm’s hedge fund platform—and was also one of the firm’s Senior Relationship Managers, overseeing a portfolio of its largest institutional clients. He initially joined Morgan Stanley in Hong Kong, where he was responsible for Equity Derivatives and Structured Products across Asia. Ben commenced his career in finance with Bankers Trust, Sydney where he was one of the pioneers of the Warrants market.
Throughout his career, Ben has cultivated strong relationships with sovereign wealth funds, pension and superannuation funds, hedge funds, ultra-high-net-worth individuals, and family offices in both Australia and internationally. He is recognized as a subject matter expert in hedge funds, securities financing, and derivatives.
Ben holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Queensland and a Bachelor of Laws from the Queensland University of Technology. He received a rugby scholarship at the Australian Institute of Sport and played representative and first-grade rugby in both Queensland and New South Wales. Ben is Chairman of the Australian Rugby Foundation and serves on the board of the American Australian Association, a charity founded in 1948 by Sir Keith Murdoch.
Born and raised on a Merino stud and wheat farm in Muckadilla, Queensland, Ben now lives in Sydney with his wife and two sons.
