LGT Venture Philanthropy

LGT Venture Philanthropy, the LGT Groups’ charitable Foundation. For more than a decade, social commitment and philanthropy has also been an important topic for LGT Group as a company. We owe this initiative to the long standing and successful philanthropic commitment of our owner family. The Princely Family firmly believes that wealth goes hand in hand with social responsibility. That is why the Princely House has been charitable and philanthropic for centuries. In order to professionalize its commitment and institutionalize it within LGT, the Princely Family established the LGT Venture Philanthropy Foundation in 2007. LGT VP's goal is to improve the quality of life of disadvantaged people in sub-Saharan Africa and India.

You might be considering giving as an individual, a family, a community or as a business.

Regardless of who you are, it is important to understand what type of structure will suit you best, or if you need one at all. The key things to consider are:

  • How much you intend to give
  • The time-frame for your giving
  • The level of engagement you want as the donor

However, you may not need a structure set up at all.

For example, if you are giving one-off amounts, if those amounts are under $10,000 per year and short term, then the benefits of setting up a structure may well not be realised. Also, if tax deductibility isn’t required, then maybe a structure isn’t the right thing for you.

Your adviser can introduce you to a range of structures including:

  • Private Ancillary Fund (PAF)
  • Sub-fund in a Public Ancillary Fund (PuAF)
  • Private Charitable Trust
  • Testamentary or Will Trust

Wanting to get involved?

The opportunities for philanthropy are limitless.

In almost every field of human activity, thoughtful and focused giving can make life better. Faced with such a wide range of possibilities, even the most clear-sighted philanthropist, the most financially comfortable individual could be forgiven for hesitating before answering the question: what do I want to achieve?

Your adviser can help guide you through a process of self-reflection by drawing on your motivations and experiences, and your skills and resources to decide what issue you want to focus on, whom you want to help and where you want to act.
