Mahen Wijeyewickrama has worked conscientiously to establish and build his career as a trusted investment adviser for high net worth clients. After graduating from Monash University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Business, majoring in Banking and Finance, he has held senior roles in various functions of Advisory Services, such as Technical Director of WHK Horwath and Head of Research for Magnitude Financial Planning (part of the Westpac Group). He is also a qualified financial adviser with over four years’ experience as a senior financial planner with Westpac Private and Premium Financial Services.
His experience across the wealth advisory industry gives him a unique perspective on what clients truly value from their adviser. “My view is that the advice landscape in Australia has become very complicated over the last two decades, and the requirement for high quality and unconflicted advice is now even more important.” Mahen joined UBS Wealth Management as an investment adviser in 2011 and was promoted to director in 2013. In addition to his undergraduate degree, he holds a Diploma in Financial Planning, has completed further studies in equity derivatives, and is a level 2 ASX accredited derivative adviser. Now, Mahen joins forces with likeminded peers to deliver first class advice at LGT Wealth Management—the only employee-owned wealth management company of its kind in the Australian market. While investment strategy is a key part of Mahen’s offering, he believes that deriving a client’s real objective from their investments and their tolerance for risk is the most important part of the advice process. This is the only way you can provide accurate investment advice and eliminate the risk of surprises in investment returns.
