About the Role
We are looking for an IT Security Engineer to help protect and further develop our applications, cloud services, infrastructure and workplace environments. This role combines hands-on security engineering with consulting, automation and the use of AI to make security smarter, faster and more scalable.
You will work with architects, engineers, developers, risk functions and business teams to turn security requirements into practical solutions that work in real life — not just on paper.
Key Responsibilities
Advise project, product and platform teams on secure architecture, design and implementation
Perform security-by-design reviews for applications, cloud services and critical systems
Design, implement, and continuously enhance security controls across firewall, secure web access, VPN, endpoint, DLP, PAM, cloud security, and identity, while ensuring their reliable operation as part of a DevOps delivery model
Support evaluations, PoCs and rollouts of new security products and services
Use automation, scripting and AI-enabled tools to improve recurring security processes, analysis, documentation and control effectiveness
Contribute to security standards, policies, KPIs, reporting and risk-based decision-making
Support incident handling, troubleshooting and root-cause analysis where security engineering expertise is needed
Work closely with infrastructure, development, operations, governance and risk teams
Several years of experience in IT security engineering or cloud security.
Strong knowledge in at least two areas such as network security, endpoint security, Azure / M365 security, identity and access management, SIEM / SOAR, incident handling or security automation
Practical experience with security technologies such as Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, Purview, DLP, PAM, firewall or secure access solutions
Experience with scripting or automation, for example PowerShell, Python, Golang or similar
Good understanding of security-by-design, risk-based decision-making and common frameworks such as ISO 2700x or NIST
Structured, reliable and solution-oriented way of working
Strong communication skills and the ability to make security understandable and actionable
Very good English skills; German is an advantage
Willingness to participate in 24/7 on-call duty
Nice to Have
Experience in regulated environments or financial services
Certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, CISM, AZ-500 or SC-100
