Demelza provides specialist care and emotional support for babies, children and young people with serious or terminal conditions and their loved ones, so they can enjoy their time together as a family, for as long as they have.
Every year Demelza Hospice Care for Children’s work is a lifeline to over 750 babies, children and young people and 4,000 individual family members across the South East of England. They care for children from babies to young adults, with a range of different conditions, some of which are very complex and so rare, they have no name.
When a family desperately needs support, Demelza can give them the time, space and attention to cope. From diagnosis, for as long as they’re needed, they deliver specialist care with compassion. If a family chooses for their child to die at Demelza, they ensure they have the support they need to focus on loving each other and make lasting memories.
Demelza’s ethos is to work for the whole family – parents, brothers and sisters, grandparents and other loved ones – because the whole family is integral to a child’s life. In order to deliver this, they offer a number of services in addition to the end of life care and bereavement support in the hospices and the community. These include symptom management, wellness, wellbeing and mindfulness sessions for children, young people and families, short breaks at their hospices, and many more.
