Six months into his role as CEO of LGT Wealth Management, we asked Heinrich Henckel to reflect on his first months with the firm, his perspective on the evolving wealth management landscape and the priorities shaping the next phase of the business.

The conversation comes as LGT Group publishes a strong set of half-year results, providing a timely backdrop to reflect on LGT Wealth Management’s position and priorities in a period of continued change across the UK wealth management industry.

Heinrich, just over six months in, what have been your strongest impressions so far?

Heinrich: I have been part of LGT Group for many years and have sat on LGT Wealth Management’s governing board since 2021, so I knew the UK business well. However, spending time with colleagues and clients across our UK offices has given me an even greater appreciation of the depth of expertise within the business and the quality of the relationships our teams have built with clients. Those long-standing, personal connections are one of our greatest strengths.

It is clear to me that listening closely to our clients, understanding how their needs are evolving and continuing to develop how we serve them will remain incredibly important as we look ahead.

Building on that, what do you think clients expect from a wealth manager in 2026?

Heinrich: Clients expect us to help them make decisions about their wealth in the context of their wider lives, values and long-term ambitions. In other words, our role goes well beyond managing their investments. This has long been true, but it is becoming even more important as families take a more holistic view of their financial and personal goals, and as younger generations become increasingly engaged in these conversations.

Technology also has an important role to play. Used well, digital tools should make processes simpler and information more accessible, freeing up our advisers to spend more time on the areas where their judgement and experience add the greatest value.

Clients are also understandably paying close attention to the consolidation taking place across the sector. Against that backdrop, continuity and independence remain important parts of the relationship we build with clients, allowing us to focus on their long-term needs while continuing to invest in the expertise, technology and services that support them.

But for all the ways wealth management is evolving, I still believe there is enormous value in having a trusted adviser at the end of the phone. That is especially important during times of geopolitical or market uncertainty. These personal conversations remain at the heart of the advice we provide, and I do not see that changing.

Looking ahead, what are your priorities over the next few months?

Heinrich: I am committed to ensuring LGT Wealth Management provides continuity in the areas that matter most: thoughtful advice, personal service and a long-term perspective. At the same time, we will continue to improve and evolve, responding to client needs, market conditions and technological developments.

My first six months have reinforced my confidence in the strength of this business and in the people and relationships behind it. We have strong foundations and a great deal of opportunity ahead, and I look forward to building on them as we continue to evolve how we serve our clients and their families for generations to come.
